[ Arguably not as good as vodka and orange juice, but only arguably; it'll still taste good. Reggie gets out a glass to mix her drink in, briefly making a face while he pours and his back is to her. ]

Who, Archie? Yeah, he's gone.

[ He says it lightheartedly, turning around to hand over her glass and then taking a slow sip from his own drink. ]

So now this is just my bachelor pad.

Not bad. [The pad, or the drink?] I don't think I could do it, though. If I had this much space to myself I'd go crazy.

It's okay. [ Reggie shrugs. ] Just means I can do whatever I want without someone else around to crowd me. Besides, I can always invite people over-- maybe to move in, maybe not. A guy needs his space.

[ It is a lot of space, though; yes, maybe even "too much" space for one guy by himself and a dog, especially considering the extra bedroom. It's nice to be independent from, say, his parents, but that doesn't mean Reggie is immune to regular ol' loneliness. He likes to think he is, though. ]

Mmn... it beats the government housing, at least. Don't get me wrong, not having to pay any rent is great. But you're just kind of stuck with a bunch of people you don't really know. It makes it hard to do anything fun, you know?

Sure, yeah. I can imagine. Not like knowing them would necessarily help, though-- I mean, I know both of my parents and that still doesn't make it any easier to have fun when we're all stuck at home together. Whereas now, I can have whatever kind of fun I want.

[ Perspective, or something. He sips his energy drink contemplatively. ]

Why don't you just move out?

I never registered. So, they aren't gonna kick me out or anything, but I don't think the government's itching to help me get a new place.

[Something about what Reggie said really gets under her skin]

But come on. Living with your folks couldn't have been that bad.

I'm not saying it was bad. Just that this is better.

[ Which is probably the most diplomatic way he can put it. Reggie doesn't hate his parents, but like many teenagers (especially those who come from Riverdale), he can have a complicated relationship with them.

He shrugs. Why people don't just register for the benefits and simplified lifestyle continues to be beyond Reggie's understanding, but he knows better than to argue with people about it. ]

Well, I'd offer my extra room if you want, but I'm not really sure I'm up for dealing with the hassle of having a girl roommate. Though I guess I might reconsider.
